How Team Impetus Enhances Your Work
Impetus: “A force that moves something (a team)”
This workshop equips you to use the Team Impetus Model with teams, to engage people, shape strategy and create impetus to execute it.
The Ski Jump Model (please see picture above) is based on the Solutions Focus (SF) approach to change, an approach that focuses on what is working, identifying what the team wants to achieve and taking steps to progress towards it.
The Model helps in three ways. It:
- Provides you with a valuable framework in which to effect change with a team.
- Is highly flexible so that you can use it with different types of change, for example, to transform an underperforming team or to set team business strategy.
- Serves as a useful tool to explain your Solution Focus approach.

- A team leader or project manager who would like to learn a fresh approach to engage your team and have them collaborate in an energetic way

This workshop will help you, whether you work in an organisation or run your own team coaching business.
We will provide articles on SF prior to the course for you to read if you wish to prepare in advance.
Language
John Brooker speaks very clear English and all exercises can be done in German. The slides also offer some visual support for what is said and a translator will be on site to translate some key messages, if needed

The Workshop Leader – John Brooker
John Brooker is a former Senior Vice President of Visa and tutored for 14 years on the Open University (UK) MBA programme, Creativity, Innovation and Change. He has used Solution Focus to facilitate multi cultural teams since 2004, working throughout Western and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, as well as Asia and the USA.
John Brooker of Yes! And developed the Team Impetus Model based on his experience of using Solutions Focus (SF) with teams globally and his learning from fellow SF practitioners.
The Team Impetus Model reflects his experience up until today and John will pass on this experience, including:
- Different uses for the model, that include team transformation and strategy
- Novel tools that John has developed for different stages such as Constructive Rant and Sprint Actions
- Tips for motivating teams.
John facilitates highly participative, practical and energetic learning events and encourages you to reflect and apply what you learn to your own work.
